I received my first guitar when I was 16 but wasn't serious until 9
years ago when I moved to the mountains here in Ruidoso. My
influences are very broad including artists; Peter, Paul and Mary, Joni
Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, Nancy Griffith and John Prine, to name a few.
Basically my main inspiration comes form life itself, blended into the
music of Blues, Folk, Country and Swing. I have always been a very
outspoken person. I tend to turn any situation into a song. I
never learned to read music but comprised my own way of letting my ears
and soul guide me through. After years of jams and patient
musicians, I have a more expanded working knowledge of scales and chord
combinations. My goal is to see the humor and share life's lessons with
all who will listen. If you can't laugh at life or yourself, they
can both get you down. As the words in one of my songs says,
"...being the loser ain't so bad, it's all in how you
think!"
I have been
playing clubs and private parties all over Texas and New Mexico for the
last 9 years both as a single acoustic act as well as with my blues and
country bands. In the last 3 years, I have recorded 2 CD's. No
Regrets, released 1998, contains 12 originals I describe as Bo Diddley
meets Bob Wills. It is full blown country-blues-swing music, band
and all. The second one, Dreams, released 2000, contains 16
originals, and is acoustic, including my best friend and singing partner
of 9 years, Ileana Boren. This is a recording from the heart and
includes our favorites. It is a magical blend of vocals and light
percussion. If anyone wants to know how I've been, they just ask for
my latest release. This CD is definitely the cliff note version!
