Horseback Riding

A wide variety of horseback riding opportunities are available in the Ruidoso area.

Riding choices range from 30-minute to 1-hour rides through the pines around the edge of town to full-day excursions into the wilderness areas of the Lincoln National Forest. The shorter rides near town are geared toward novice riders and families with young children who have never ridden a horse before and want to experience the thrill of riding horseback. Half-day and full-day rides into the wilderness areas provide opportunities to see the magnificent backcountry that will appeal to adults and older children of all experience levels. Regardless of your riding experience, there is a horseback adventure awaiting you in Ruidoso that will fulfill your expectations.

Inn of the Mountain Gods Riding Stables - (575) 464-7424 Located at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino, Mescalero NM. Trail rides depart at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm; reservations recommended, children must be at least 8 years old; $32 per 1-hour ride. Note: Stables are open weather permitting.
