Looking to move your body and get some exercise in while you’re visiting beautiful Ruidoso? You can anticipate plenty of activities to do so in the village. Ruidoso hosts numerous fun runs throughout the year, and boasts seemingly endless places to play disc golf, hike, bike, and ride on outdoor trails, explore lakes, and enjoy the mountains and forest.

Run Ruidoso Series

Hosted by Ruidoso Parks & Recreation, this annual run series features unique races across the diverse trails in Ruidoso. See the upcoming race schedule to plan your next big run. Races suitable for all ages!

Disc Golf

Ruidoso often hosts the New Mexico State Disc Golf Championship as well as other major competitions… and for good reason! Our three disc golf courses, Alto Lake (New), Grindstone Lake, and Moon Mountain are world-class and a whole lot of fun. Glow in the dark disc golf events are regularly scheduled throughout the year and courses are always free to play.

Golf

Play one of our beautiful area golf courses while you’re here. There are 5 local courses in and around Ruidoso, including The Links at Sierra Blanca, Cree Meadows, Inn of the Mountain Gods, Alto Lakes, and Rainmakers, as well as many more in surrounding towns a short drive away. Hiking

Hit the trails around Lincoln County for a relaxing hike! Trail skill levels vary, so you can always find the right fit for your group. Get a free trail map at the Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce and remember to stock up apparel and essentials at one of our many local outfitters.

Boating & Fishing

From pedal boats and kayaking to small boats (please see rules & regulations for the use of boats here) you can explore our local lakes a variety of ways. Visit Inn of the Mountain Gods for pedal boats, row boats, stand-up paddle boards, and kayak rentals, or bring your own watercraft to Alto or Grindstone Lake for fishing and relaxation. The Dam House at Grindstone Lake also offers a variety of small boat rentals.

Fish in Ruidoso and the surrounding area at several lakes stocked for anglers to enjoy, including Bonito Lake, Grindstone Lake, and Inn of the Mountain Gods' lake. Grab that fishing license and set up for the day surrounded by beautiful views.

Biking

Our local trails cover a wide variety of skill levels so everyone can enjoy a bike ride together. We've got TONS of recommendations for your next biking adventure. Most trails are multi-use for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

Skiing & Snowboarding

At Ski Apache, you can race down the mountain on skis or your snowboard at the southernmost ski resort in the country. During the winter season - usually from Thanksgiving through mid-March, Ski Apache offers great weather, great views, and a great time! Rent your equipment from local retailers and come enjoy the slopes.
