Your go-to source of help and information as we rebuild our wonderful Village, together!
A Place for You to Ease Your Mind
The times we are going through are unprecedented, sudden and unexpected. If you didn't lose a home or business, chances are you know someone who did. Even just watching the Village we love so much being ravaged by catastrophic weather conditions is scary and emotionally draining. It's okay to feel afraid, confused, helpless and any other emotions you may be feeling. But, you should know, you don't have to deal with any of this on your own. There are others going through similar emotions. So, whatever you're feeling, there is no need for you to feel alone. Please be a part of the healing taking place amidst the chaos.
How To Stay Safe
Above all we want you, your neighbors, your family and our whole village to be safe. Here are some tips to help!
Watch the skies - Be aware that just a few clouds can cluster quickly causing rapidly changing weather conditions.
Alerts - Make sure you are signed up for Emergency notifications. If you are not signed up, you can sign up At: https://www.callmeruidoso.com
Be Ready - You may not have time to gather and pack. It's a good idea to have a plan in place that enables you to grab your most valuable/needed items within minutes. it may also be a good idea to have some non-perishable food and bottled water pre-packed and ready to take with you.
Gas - Make sure you keep your car gassed up. it may not be possible to get gas in an emergency evacuation.
Sirens - if you hear sirens, you are out of time! Evacuate immediately and do not try to stay to pack or protect your property!
****WATER - AS TIME PASSES WE ADD AND REMOVE ITEMS FROM THIS PAGE TO KEEP YOU UP-TO-DATE. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT SOME AREAS ARE STILL UNDER A BOIL WATER ORDER. MAKE SURE THIS IS NOT YOU. AND IF IT IS, HERE IS HOW TO STAY SAFE.****
Importance of PPE
Sometimes we run full steam ahead when we are trying to help. The fires and floods have really shown us the vigor and resilience of our Village community.
But, as we do for others, let us not put ourselves at risk. Chemicals and raw sewage are a very real part of this crisis. Make sure you are wearing the proper personal protective equipment so that you do not get sick in your efforts.
The Lions Club has selflessly come to aid in our community's recovery. As just one part of their contribution, they are giving away free PPE so that we can all be safe as we clean, clear and rebuild. Please take advantage of their generosity so that we can all stay well as we move forward.
Documentation: This is CRITICAL for your claims process and ensuring you get the most aid possible. Be sure to take pictures and make a detailed list of any damage or loss to your property - both real and personal.
Receipts: Keep all receipts for all evacuation expenses: lodging, meals, clothing and all essentials.
Waste: PNM will not cover food loss when the cause of the power outage was due to weather. Ask your insurance company if this is something that will be covered. If not, try and recall if you have an extended warranty or possibly a home warranty you can contact. Best Buy will reimburse those with a Geek Squad warranty, up to $500 and you may have coverage under something similar that you may have forgotten about.

“Most needed items,” during times of crisis, can vary day-to-day. To make sure that there is not a lack in one area and an overabundance in another, it is best to check with the donation centers on where they may be low on items.

If you've ever been to Ruidoso, you've heard of The Flying J Ranch, or at least if you've visited since 1982 when they started their amazing shows. If you haven't been to see them, you are missing out! It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that when tragedy hit the area, these great folks were determined to do anything they could to help. Knowing what a huge following they have in Lubbock, Texas, it made sense to enable the people of that area to help the resort town they hold so near and dear. So they took to the road and held a fundraiser.
The Lubbock community got a wonderful night of entertainment and the Lincoln County Community Foundation will get a check for over $35,000.00. This is the embodiment of what we do when our friends, neighbors and community needs help. They didn't hesitate. So let's show them how much we appreciate them and as we recover, be sure to patronize their business. Shows start again July 10th and will run four nights a week, Wednesday through Saturday. Check out their website at https://www.flyingjranch.com to find out about their fun summer activities and their delicious fare served at their all you can eat Chuckwagon Suppers! There's something for everyone!
